Terms of Service

Effective: 6 August 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DBCareers, the specialist careers platform for database professionals at dbcareers.tech (the "Service"), operated by DBCareers ("we", "us").

By creating an account or otherwise using DBCareers, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use DBCareers.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • One account per person. Recruiter accounts should represent a real hiring organisation.
  • You must verify your email address before you can sign in. Keep your password secret and don't share your account.
  • You're responsible for all activity on your account. Notify us at info@dbcareers.tech if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Database professional accounts

Database professional accounts are free. You can create a profile, browse jobs, apply, and message with recruiters at no cost.

You control the visibility of your profile through the settings in the My Profile tab. You can hide your profile from all searches, or block specific companies from seeing you. Recruiters never see your email address unless you choose to share it.

4. Recruiter accounts and payment

  • Recruiter access is paid. Available plans and prices are shown on our Pricing page.
  • Prices are displayed in USD. Because DBCareers is operated from South Africa, card charges are processed in South African Rand (ZAR) at the exchange rate applicable at signup. Your bank converts the ZAR debit back to your local currency and may apply its own foreign-transaction fee.
  • Payments are processed by Paystack, our third-party payment processor. DBCareers is the seller of record; Paystack handles card acceptance, authorization, and settlement on our behalf.
  • The ZAR amount charged for a subscription is fixed at signup for the duration of your subscription. We may adjust the ZAR reference amount to keep it aligned with the USD price shown on our site, but only with at least 30 days' prior written notice to you.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. See Section 8 for cancellation and refund terms.
  • Recruiters must only post genuine, current vacancies for database-related roles. Recycled, dormant, or fictitious jobs are prohibited.
  • Recruiters must comply with all applicable employment, anti-discrimination, and data-protection laws in their jurisdiction.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content (including fake vacancies or fake profiles).
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the platform without our written permission.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems.
  • Upload malware or engage in any activity that disrupts or degrades the Service.
  • Use DBCareers to send unsolicited commercial messages (spam).
  • Impersonate another person or organisation.

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, without notice.

6. Content and ownership

You retain ownership of the content you post on DBCareers (your profile, job listings, messages). By posting content you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.

You are responsible for the content you post and must have the right to post it. Don't post anyone else's copyrighted or confidential information without permission.

The DBCareers name, logo, branding, code, and design are our intellectual property. You may not use them without our prior written consent.

7. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by emailing info@dbcareers.tech.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. We'll give reasonable notice where practical.

8. Refunds and cancellations

A standalone version of this policy is also available at /refunds.

Cancellation. You may cancel your recruiter subscription at any time from your Subscription page. Cancellation stops future renewals; you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, and you will not be charged again after that date.

Refunds. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. We may issue a refund at our discretion, or that of our payment processor, in the following cases:

  • Where required by mandatory consumer-protection laws in your jurisdiction (for example, statutory cooling-off periods for consumers in certain countries).
  • Where a technical fault on our side prevented you from using the Service for the period paid for and we cannot resolve it within a reasonable time.
  • Where a charge was made in clear error (e.g. duplicate billing).

To request a refund, email info@dbcareers.tech within 14 days of the charge, describing the reason. We aim to respond within 3 business days.

Payment disputes. Card charges are processed by Paystack on our behalf. If you dispute a charge, please contact us first — we can usually resolve issues faster than a chargeback.

Automatic renewal. Recurring subscriptions renew on the same billing cycle you selected (monthly or annually) until cancelled. We will notify you at least 30 days in advance of any price change taking effect on renewal.

9. Disclaimers

DBCareers is a platform that connects database professionals and recruiters. We do not guarantee that you'll find a job, that a hire will result from a listing, that any specific candidate is qualified, or that any specific recruiter or employer is trustworthy. Interactions on the platform are between users; DBCareers is not a party to them.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DBCareers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold DBCareers harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

12. Governing law

DBCareers is available worldwide. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction from which DBCareers is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If you use the Service from another country, mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence continue to apply and, to the extent they grant you rights you cannot waive, will prevail over these Terms.

Where possible, disputes arising from these Terms should be raised with us first at info@dbcareers.tech so we can attempt to resolve them directly. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have under mandatory local law to bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to signed-in users by email or through the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
