DBCareers ("we", "us", "our") operates the DBCareers website and platform at dbcareers.tech, a specialist careers platform for database professionals. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from you and how we use it.

We are the data controller for the personal data we collect. If you have any questions or want to exercise your rights, contact us at info@dbcareers.tech.

The personal data we collect depends on how you use DBCareers:

• Account data — name, email address, password (stored as a bcrypt hash, never plaintext), account type (database professional or recruiter).
• Database professional profile data — job title, location, timezone, years of experience, salary expectations, availability status, work preferences, technical skills and database platforms, certifications, training courses, employment history, and any other information you add to your profile.
• Recruiter data — company name, verification documents, subscription plan and billing status. We do not store full payment card details; payments are processed by our payment provider.
• Usage data — pages you view, jobs you apply to, messages you send, search queries, and technical information such as IP address, browser, and device type. Used for security, service operation, and platform analytics.
• Cookies — see Section 6.

• To provide the service — creating your account, authenticating you, matching database professionals to recruiter searches, delivering messages. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• To keep the platform safe — preventing fraud, spam, and abuse; enforcing our Terms. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• To communicate with you — service emails (verification, password reset, notifications about your account or jobs you've applied to). Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• To improve DBCareers — anonymised analytics on which features are used. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• To comply with law — where we must retain or disclose data to meet legal obligations.

• Recruiters on the platform — verified recruiters on paid plans can see your profile in the talent pool. You control this: set your profile to "Not looking" to hide it entirely, or add specific companies to your blocked-companies list so they can't see you. Recruiters never see your email address directly — they contact you through the platform's messaging system.
• Service providers — third parties who help us run DBCareers, including our hosting, CDN, DNS, and email providers. They process data only on our instructions and are contractually bound to protect it.
• Payment processor — for recruiter subscriptions, our payment provider processes card details. We do not store full card numbers.
• Legal requests — we will disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect DBCareers, our users, or the public from fraud or harm.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use your profile data for advertising.

DBCareers is a global service. Your data may be stored and processed in the country where our infrastructure is hosted and by our service providers in other jurisdictions (including but not limited to the European Union and the United States). Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as those providers' standard contractual clauses and certifications.

We use only essential cookies needed to make the platform work:

• dba_token and recruiter_token — HTTP-only session cookies that keep you signed in. Expire after 7 days.

We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies, marketing cookies, or tracking pixels. If this changes in future, we will update this Policy and (where required) ask for your consent.

• Active accounts — retained as long as your account is active.
• Deleted accounts — email us and we will delete your account and profile within 7 days. Some records (billing invoices, audit logs) may be retained longer to comply with legal obligations.
• Inactive accounts — accounts with no sign-in for 24 months may be deleted with prior notice.

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data (most of which you can do yourself in your profile)
• Delete your account and personal data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to certain processing, including analytics
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, email info@dbcareers.tech. We aim to respond within 30 days.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data: passwords are hashed with bcrypt, all traffic uses TLS, session tokens are HTTP-only, and access to production data is restricted. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@dbcareers.tech.

DBCareers is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified to signed-in users by email or through the platform. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
